The Depew Fire Department consists of six companies and an explorer post.  The organization of the companies came as a direct result of the incorporation of the Village of Depew on July 23, 1894.  Our boundaries are within the towns of Lancaster and Cheektowaga, New York, and we serve a population of about 15,500 people.  The village consists of about 7,100 homes and 1,055 businesses.

We respond to approximately 350 calls each year.  Those calls consist of vehicle fires, grass fires, structure fires, carbon monoxide calls, alarm activations, and many other emergencies.  Normally we do not respond to motor vehicle accidents unless there is a need for extrication, spill clean up, or we are requested by the police or ambulance company.  Emergency Medical situations are handled by the Depew Police Department and Lancaster Volunteer Ambulance Corps.

The Depew Fire Department is the largest fire department in Erie County, and one of the largest in New York State.  We are proudly led by Dept. Chief Kenneth M. Mau.
