The Depew Fire Department is currently looking for young adults to join our Explorer Post.  The Explorer Post is an organization for youth, ages 14-18, to learn about the job of firefighting.

This is a great way to become active in your community, while having fun learning to be a firefighter.  As an explorer, you can train with our members, ride the trucks, and help out at fire calls.  Explorers will not perform hazardous duties and will be supervised by trained advisors.

This is an excellent way to gain new friendships and earn community service hours for school.

If you are interested in joining, stop at any one of our fire stations, or email the Explorer Post at explorers@depewfire.org.

Lipuma served on the Depew Fire Department Board of Wardens for 40 years and held the position of Financial Secretary for several of those years.  In those 40 years, he never missed a meeting.

He was congratulated at the inspection for his exemplary service, and was presented with a service pin and commemorative plaque by Depew Fire Chief Peter Michaels.

Also, receiving service pins were Robert Brotz for 45 years of service, Richard Basher for 40 years, John Garbacz for 35 years, John Koziel for 30 years, Robert Guggemos, Robert Schulte, William Stevenson and Tracy Sundberg for 25 years, Jerome Mingle for 20 years, Paul Schnitzer, Richard Starzynski and Christian Sundberg for 15 years, and John Atanasio and Joseph Kajdas for 10 years of service.

In addition to service awards, the Depew Fire Department Cadence Corps presented the second annual Wilbur Sharick Memorial Award for Member of the Year.  This year’s recipient is tenor drum player Richard Ball.
